Why did the client contact us?

After decades of accumulating IT equipment, this business had a cluttered storage area filled with outdated servers, desktops, laptops, and miscellaneous peripherals. With no clear inventory or structure, it became increasingly difficult to find functional equipment or determine what was still usable. The client needed help making sense of the chaos and establishing a more efficient, secure storage system.

The work provided:

We performed a full inventory and audit of their stored technology assets—spanning 30 years of equipment. Here's how we approached the project:

  • Detailed Sorting Process: Each item was inspected and labeled for either recycling, resale, or retention based on condition and relevance.

  • Cable Categorization: We created clearly labeled storage bins for five main cable types: Power, Ethernet, Video, USB, and Other. This improved visibility and retrieval.

  • In-Box Equipment Setup: All boxed or ready-to-deploy equipment was neatly organized on shelving units for easy access and deployment.

  • Hardware Labeling: Equipment designated for retention was labeled with build dates, specs, and capabilities for rapid identification and future decision-making.

  • Secure Storage Implementation: All retained hardware was stored in a badge-access-controlled room, ensuring only authorized personnel can access the inventory—while logging each entry.

The Result

The once-overwhelming IT storage area is now a clean, structured, and highly functional asset closet. Staff can easily locate and deploy equipment without guesswork, and the client has regained valuable physical space. With improved labeling, categorization, and security, they’ve transformed a disorganized pile into a professional, audit-ready IT storage environment.
